Lucy is a handcrafted replica of an Edwardian Thames launch, her lines drawn from designs dating back to 1905. She holds up to six guests, which means your private canal cruise through Amsterdam feels genuinely intimate rather than cramped. The quiet electric motor keeps conversation easy, and your captain doubles as your guide, pointing out details along the canals that most tours skip entirely.
Inside, Lucy has an indoor salon with a bar area and a large skylight that fills the space with natural light. When the weather turns, the covered roof keeps everyone dry without cutting you off from the view — the large windows see to that. For warmer days, there's an intimate rear deck where you can sit closer to the water. A private boat rental in Amsterdam rarely comes with this much considered design, and the onboard toilet means no awkward scrambling for café stops mid-cruise.
An open bar can be added for fifteen euros per person per hour, or you can order champagne by the bottle — Piper-Heidsieck, Veuve Clicquot, or Ruinart. On the food side, there's a snack platter, a cheese board for two, or freshly baked apple pie. Just reach out after booking to arrange what you'd like on board. Book Lucy for ninety minutes, two hours, or three, departing from Keizersgracht. She suits birthdays, small celebrations, or an afternoon where you simply want the canals to yourselves.

“What a fantastic afternoon on the Danique! We live in Amsterdam ourselves, so you’d think we’ve seen the canals by now… but apparently not like this 😄 We had such a fun mix of Londoners and Americans on board, amazing weather, seriously good drinks and delicious sharing platters. But the absolute star of the tour was our skipper Floris — he was BRILLIANT! He seems to know absolutely everything about Amsterdam, including all the weird, funny little details you never hear about. And while casually telling us all these stories, he was navigating the Danique through the canals — half the time backwards — as if it was the easiest thing in the world 😂 Great atmosphere, great boat, great food & drinks and an even better skipper. Even as Amsterdammers, we absolutely loved it. Highly recommend!”

Pure Boats
Pure Boats was founded in Amsterdam in 2017 by James, Nick and Geertje — three former superyacht designers who set out to build a boutique, personal alternative to Amsterdam's big tour boats. The fleet has grown from one restored boat, Geertje, to six named vessels — Geertje, Schollevaar, Pure Spirit, Stan Huygens, Lucy and Danique — each electric and hand-restored, some over a century old. Onboard catering is locally sourced, and the company has won a Prestige Award for Unique Boat Tour of the Year and TripAdvisor's Best of the Best. Shared cruises run from €47 per person and private charters from €290, departing from Keizersgracht 106.
